Arkansas Securities Department Promotes Financial Literacy Month

In recognition of National Financial Literacy Month, the Arkansas Securities Department (ASD) is reminding investors of the resources the agency offers to Arkansans to improve financial literacy and protect from investment fraud.

“Education is the best tool for empowering investors to make sound investment decisions and protect themselves against investment fraud,” ASD Commissioner Susannah T. Marshall said.

The ASD offers a wealth of investor education programs and tools to help Arkansans learn how to avoid fraud and improve their understanding of an increasingly complex financial system. Improved financial literacy can lead to greater economic prosperity and help build a secure financial future for Arkansans and their families. The ASD’s website at securities.arkansas.gov under the “Education” tab offers financial information for investors of all ages, including investor alerts and advisories, the Basics of Saving and Investing Handbook, senior resources, and interactive games for students. Additionally, the Investor Education Program runs a grant program that awards up to $250,000 in total grant funds to eligible schools and non-profits for purposes of providing investment education to students grades 5 through 12.

Investors can contact the ASD directly at (800) 981-4429 or [email protected] to make sure their investment professional is properly registered and has a clean disciplinary history, as well as to learn more about the investor education programs and resources available in Arkansas.
